Founded in 2010, the Hyde & Co Group is one of the most well known and well respected institutions in Bristol's thriving food and drink scene. Our portfolio consists of Hyde & Co & Milk Thistle our prohibition cocktail bars, Pata Negra our tapas restaurant/event space/late night bar, three Ox steak & cocktail houses and Bambalan our super vibrant healthy all day eatery.

Since opening in 2013 The Ox has won multiple awards and is widely recognised for some of the best steak in the city. We're looking for a Head Chef looking for a new challenge in one of Bristol's most exciting kitchens, so if you're passionate, a natural leader and happiest working under pressure this is for you.

About the job:

We have a hugely exciting position become available at Hyde & Co Leisure ltd as Head chef at The Ox, Bristol. This is our flagship site and requires an experienced Head Chef of a high skill level with the ability to manage a medium sized kitchen brigade in a restaurant that delivers a quality product in a fast, busy and exciting setting.

The Ox is an award winning modern steak house with the main focus serving the very best in locally reared dry aged meat cooked over charcoal and a range of interesting small plates. While the menu may look simple the devil is in the detail and the successful applicant will need to demonstrate an understanding in the subtleties of quality and a ability to maintain consistency in a highly competitive restaurant environment as well as a proven record in managing and working with people in a cultured, calm, effective manner.

We expect you to come armed with a set of well homed skills:

  • Be an excellent communicator
  • Excellent proven track record with references
  • KPI driven, target focused, commercially & creatively minded
  • Delivering consistently high service in a fast environment
  • EHO/H&S competent
  • Strong organisational skills & strong back of house paperwork skills
  • Proactive and able to think on your feet
  • Staff recruitment, training, progression & discipline for all skill levels 

Along with a salary of 28/30k the successful applicant can expect an excellent and achievable bonus package based on labour cost and GP, a share of tronc, health cash plan as well as the opportunity to work in a team that is tight and professional.
